About Lockwood

Lockwood Chase is home to 103 single-family residences built circa 1983 by Ferguson & Flynn.

Prior to construction, the development enjoyed several diverse incarnations, originally as a pig farm and later as the Malvern Golf Course, on which several of our residents once played!

As one original resident recalls, seven families had staked their claim and moved in by Christmas 1983. Those seven braved one-degree-above-zero temps at Christmastime to share a very first Lockwood get-together, Christmas brunch held at a fellow Lockwood homeowner’s house…

The community is a tightly knit one, enhanced by numerous social events, many of which have endured for over 25 years, including

  • Christmas Party for children (and young at heart)
  • Christmas Cookie Exchange
  • Holiday Cocktail Party
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • Halloween Parade and Party
  • Supper Club.

A number of book clubs and playgroups for kids also thrive in Lockwood.

Lockwood Chase’s Sunshine Club was created twenty years ago to support neighbors during difficult times. It coordinates neighbor-supplied meals, sends flowers, and continues to be a source of pride within the community.

An active social community has always been part of Lockwood Chase. In the early years, a golf tournament kicked off spring while a competitive volleyball league was the talk of the summer season. Friday nights were punctuated by super-charged matches and after-game parties.

For many years, the winter blahs were put to rest with the Beach Party, which featured troupes of aspiring celebrities in enthusiastic lipsynching and dance competitions worthy of Idol primetime!

Over the past several years Lockwoodians have inaugurated some exciting new events. One of these takes place during the summer season, from May to October. First Fridays are held the first Friday of each month and are a great way for families to relax and socialize. Hosted on a rotating basis, these outdoor get-togethers feature pizza, playtime for kids and catch-up time for the adults.

Traditions–those existing today, those in memory, those in the making–are a hallmark of the wonderful legacy that makes Lockwood Chase one awesome place to live and play!
